"For the Family"

In addition to the general historic Savannah area, Tybee Island beach, colonial, revolutionary, and civial war related attractions, other points of interest nearby include:

L Scott Stell Park - the park itself has sports facilities for tennis, basket ball, and baseball. Also, the lake is very large and has many good places to fish (safely away from the battle site).

Ogechee Canal Nature Center - at the start of Bush road on Abercorn is a recreational area containing remnants of an extensive canal system that linked the Savannah and Ogeechee rivers during the 1800s.

Shopping - both Savannah Malls are straight down Abercorn Rd (back away from the park, toward Savannah).

Also of interest:
Ships of the Sea Maritime Musuem - contains a fascinating array of model ships, paintings and nautical artifacts that tell the story of trade across the Atlantic Ocean. Surrounded by lush tranquil gardens, the museum is housed in the magnificent Scarbrough House, formerly the home of the first president of the Savannah Steamship Company.

Mighty 8th Airforce Museum - dedicated to the 350,000 men and women who helped defeat Nazi aggression by serving in or supporting the greatest air armada the world had ever seen--the Eighth Air Force.
